Carl "The Dean" Sampson started his career in gambling as a Blackjack player. He ran several successful teams in between the years 1998 and 2002. The experience gained from that time led to his first book: "Princes of Darkness - the world of high stakes Blackjack". Carl has also written several other books and e-books on poker.

Carl acquired the nickname "The Dean" in a local poker game during which everyone asked his advice. Since he was always ready with an answer the nickname caught on. Carl started playing online poker in 2000 and went into playing professionally in 2002. In this time The Dean worked incredibly hard on his game and in 2005 he started his writing career with Bluff Europe.

The Dean currently shares his experience with the players he meets through the WPT magazine, Poker Pro Europe, Online Poker Pro, 2+2 online magazine and many other sites. His reputation has continued to increase during the past few years.
